Boycott Statement in English

United Against Corruption and Abuse of Power in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is facing a crisis. Corporate and financial elites, through their multimillion-dollar support of the "Democracia es Prosperidad" Super PAC, have enabled the PNP to regain control of our island, disregarding the desire for change held by most Puerto Ricans. They have supported an administration known for corruption, lack of transparency, and policies that benefit only a few, while the people face worsening poverty, loss of labor rights, and continued economic exploitation.

What do we want? We demand justice and dignity for Puerto Ricans. With this boycott campaign, Puerto Rican consumers will send a strong and clear message: we will not be complicit in our own oppression. Economic resistance will be our tool of protest, making the weight of our indignation and power as consumers felt by every company and figure that, out of greed and ambition, has chosen to support a corrupt and oppressive regime.

These companies not only limit Puerto Rico's inclusive economic development but also solidify their power and wealth through precarious working conditions, low wages, and minimal benefits, promoting a cycle of exploitation that deepens the crisis of our working class. "Support local" loses all meaning when that support fuels corruption and stagnation.

Our call is clear: let’s practice conscious, patriotic, and responsible consumption. Let’s reject the products and services of those entities that prolong our hardships and instead promote alternatives that truly work toward a fairer and more prosperous Puerto Rico.

The Strategic Boycott

A strategic and targeted boycott by 370,904 Puerto Rican voters—those who cast their votes for Juan Dalmau and the PIP/MVC Alliance—could have a significant economic impact on companies that provided financial support to the "Democracia es Prosperidad" Super PAC, enabling the corrupt PNP to return to power. This powerful act of economic resistance sends a clear message to these companies: supporting a political party that prioritizes the interests of a few over the needs of the people will bear real consequences.

Should these voters choose to withhold their purchases, Medalla and Malta India, popular local beverages, could face losses estimated at $148,361,600 over the next four years.

Goya Products, a major brand of staple foods, might see an impact of $74,180,800, and Kraft Heinz products could experience losses reaching $44,508,480.

Fast food giant Burger King could be impacted by approximately $148,361,600.

In the financial sector, Banco Popular & First Bank would feel a one-time economic blow of $185,452,000 from consumers transferring their accounts to local credit unions—an impactful shift demonstrating the power of conscious consumer choice.

Caribbean Cinemas, often frequented for entertainment, would experience a $37,090,400 reduction in revenue.

Altogether, this targeted boycott could result in a combined estimated economic impact of $674,954,880 over four years. This action by Puerto Rican consumers stands to remind these corporations that aligning with corrupt politics in Puerto Rico will not go unnoticed and will be met with unified resistance, shifting support toward businesses that are committed to the island’s welfare, integrity, and future.

If we are to struggle for another four years against a corrupt and inept government, we will ensure that those who uphold it feel the power of our economic resistance.

United, strong, and aware, Puerto Rico will show that its people are powerful and that our dignity is not for sale!
