The Town of Halifax has an opportunity to bring local, affordable solar energy home with Crawford Road Solar, a 5 MW community solar project on Crawford Road.
The Town Council will make their final decision this summer, and hearing from supporters like you is crucial.
This project will:
- Lower electricity bills for local residents and businesses, especially seniors, veterans, and low-income families, through the Virginia Shared Solar Program
- Protect all wetlands and streams on the site, plant native grasses and pollinator species, and preserve the tree buffer along Crawford Road
- Generate new tax revenue for Halifax with no impact on public schools, roads, or services
- Provide a Decommissioning Bond and Plan to safely remove all equipment and restore the land at the end of the project's life
